Sons of Liches Shoutbox

  • 1.The Mission Statement

Sons of Liches is a Level 85 10-man Raiding guild. SoL is a progression raiding guild who strive to be the best of the best, all the while having fun in a friendly and active gaming community.

    2. Site Usage

All members of the guild must have a site account before joining. This is non-negotiable. You will NOT be invited to join until you have registered an account. You’re expected to check in on our website and forum regularly to keep yourself up to date with what’s going on within the guild.

    3. Mains & Alts

Every player in the guild may have one raiding main only. When you join us that character will be allocated that raiding spot. You may join the guild with other alts you posses but these alts will not get a raid spot over another characters main unless required for progression purposes. If you wish to change your main at a later date, you will need to petition an officer.

Having & playing alts in the guild is a bonus, not a right! If you are playing an alt, doing a heroic etc and the guild has need of you to make a raid happen, you will drop whatever you are doing and help out. If you are online and playing, you are available! If we are going to progress, we ALL need to be flexible, and by joining our ranks you share this philosophy.

    4. Raid Spots

Raid spots are assigned at the Officer's / Raid Leader's discretion, based on performance, attitude and overall suitability. If you do not perform well, have a poor attitude, or are otherwise determined unsuitable, you will lose your raid spot to someone more suitable. Raid spots are earned.

NOTE WELL: We will be building raids out of the BEST we have available. If this isn't you, you will not make the cut and may be benched until you raise your game, and give you time to work for your spot back.

    6. Raid Conduct and Attendance

If you have not unsigned for a raid, you MUST be online at least 15 minutes before the start of the raid for an invitation. An 8:30 start means we start at that time. If you fail to come online by the time your spot has been filled and no reason has been given, it will be counted as a missed raid. More than 1 missed raid in a short period with no valid reason will see you losing your raiding spot to someone else.

All raid members MUST be able to at least listen on ventrilo, and should have the latest DBM installed at a minimum.

Raiders are expected to be professional while raiding. We all want to have fun, but sometimes you just have to knuckle down and get on with things. If you are hindering raid progress by being a drama queen, you will be kicked and replaced.

Typical Raid Schedule is as follows (May vary dependant on group schedule):

    Wednesday: Mandatory 10-man raid 20.00 – 00.00

    Thursday: Mandatory 10-man raid 20.30 – 00.00

    Monday: Volountary 10 man raids

The guild provides the 10-man raids with cauldrons(gives best flasks) and feasts (gives best food buffs) BUT you are still expected to bring backup flasks and food and your own potions. If you come to a raid without a flask / food buffs, you're gimping yourself, and therefore the raid. You and the raid should always be optimized.

    7.Signups and attendance

As we are a semi-hardcore guild which want to progress fast, we expect our Raiders to keep a high attendance, therefore every raider of a given group is always signed up for every raid. If you cannot attend a raid you will need to post this in your personal thread stating why, before 18.00 the day of the raid. Failure to do this result in your spot in the raid being questioned.

    8.Optimizing your character

Everyone that raids with us are always expected to optimize their character and game play in every way, obvious stuff like gems and enchants should always be the best. You are expected to be fully read up on your class and role and always be in the optimal spec with the optimal itemisationon on your gear. For dps classes with several dps trees you are expected to be in the most suitable one for the bosses we are currently progressing on, the specs that benefits the raids on those bosses the most, this is usually the highest dps spec, but can be a CCing spec, AoE spec or something else. If you are just a little bit unsure if you should spec away from a max dps spec you should consult an officer. You should also always be read up on and able to perform the optimal rotation for your character and spec and perform this to the fullest of your capability at all times during raids.

No one plays the game or their character perfect, everyone can always improve, we want our members to always push their performance, it can be to re-keybind to easier perform your rotations, optimize movement during boss fights, optimizing usage of CDs and so on don’t be afraid to ask an officer to help you how to improve and where to get information.

    9.Raids

Raids are 3 or 4 hours long, we expect your full attention and you to push your performance at all times, we will have 1 break during each raid of 5 to 10 mins, usually about half way. Plan your toilet visits, drinks or snacks so you never have to let the other people in the raid wait for only you.

If you do need to go afk during a raid when it is not a break you MUST inform the raid leader as soon as you realise you need that break, whether its running to the toilet for 1 min anything has come up that you need to take care of taking longer time, and you MUST inform the RL how long you expect to be gone. We will not let the other people in the raid wait for you for very long but will look to replace you. If the reason for your afk was a good one you may be swapped back into the raid again shortly, depending on how needed you are.

If you for some reason can not perform to your full capacity, if you are ill, hungover, have excessive lag, mother shouting on you or whatever you need to inform the Raid Leader of this asap with appropriate details, not after a wipe as a reason why you underperformed.

    10.Backups in raids

Backups and swift replacements are highly valued to keep the raid going, and it is in the trials or non core raiders best interest to be able to jump into a raid and prove their worth.

So in order to have swift raids without much downtime and also for rotation purposes we appreciate having everyone that desires to raid inside of the raid but outside of the raid instance. Only 10 can enter the instance while 40 ppl can be inside the raid grp, if you are on such a swift backup spot in a raid you should be ready at all times to be summoned into the instance. There are lots of stuff you can do while in a raid such as Archeology, random BG, farming, working the AH etc.

If you desire to be outside of the raid grp to do quests, HCs or something else you may still be swapped in but people sitting in the raid group as backup will be taken as a priority unless you are specifically needed for some reason. People sitting in the raid group are quicker to summon, and therefore keep the raid moving along smoothly.

It is always appreciated if stable raiders volounteer to step out and be a backup on farm bosses if you dont need gear or if you want a break for a boss just, in order for us to keep some rotation and trial newer people. You can be swapped in again just as fast on the next boss if you need gear of if he is a harder one so we want to optimize.

    11. The Guild Bank

Firstly, we appreciate all the donations made by members.

All donations should be sent to an officer to be deposited into the Guild Bank. All requests for bank items should be made using the site system made for this purpose. If an item donated is not put into the bank, it will be magically converted into gold and this will be deposited in its stead. Profession materials are welcome, but will never be given for levelling purposes. Donations of Enchant scrolls, Pots & Flasks and other raid buff consumables will be looked upon favourably!

Any BoE epics that drop in Guild organised raids are the property of the Guild Bank unless needed for a Main Spec. Offspecs may only be considered for BoE's once all normal content is on farm or unless an offspec of a particular character is used regularly during the normal course of a raid due to a specific need.

Any BoE crafting patterns that drop will be distributed to the assigned guild crafter for that profession which is usually an officer unless stated otherwise. This is to ensure that the guild has the maximum longevity of use with patterns that drop. Distribution of future patterns is at the discretion of the of the Raid Leader in question at the time of the drop.

Any BoE epics in the Guild Bank will either be passed onto a raider rank member that requires the item but was not present for the kill in which the item dropped, or will be sold on the AH. If the item is not required by a raider and a member would like to buy the item, the item will be sold at a discount to that member. The discount is at the discretion of the officer in question, and the discount will not exceed 20% of the current market value.
