upcoming MMORPGs

I think a lot of people feel that WoW is getting a bit boring but right now there's very few MMORPGs that can compete with it, end of this year/early 2012 will have Star Wars: The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2 though. Two completely different types of games but both rich in content and production value.

I'd like to bring these two to your attention and see if there's any interest in MMORPGs other than WoW from people in this guild.

Guild Wars 2 is the sequel to Guild Wars, which was mainly PVP based. GW2 will feature both PVP and PVE content, dynamic outdoor bosses and a skill system based on the weapon you're using. Its art style is very painterly and overal it looks like a step away from the typical MMORPG mold that WoW is cast in.

More information here, e.g. screenshots or details on the classes: http://www.guildwars2.com/en/

A more traditional MMORPG is Star Wars: The Old Republic. It's being developed by Bioware Austin, the same Bioware that brought you games such as Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series. It takes place in the Star Wars universe, several hundreds of years before the original KOTOR (thousands of years before the movies). It features 8 classes (4 for each faction - strongly mirrored) which can each specialize into 2 advanced classes. One of its unique selling points is Bioware-style storytelling and full voice-acting for both your own character and NPCs. It has all the features you'd expect of an MMORPG such as PVP battlegrounds, group and raid instances and crafting with an interesting twist on it. Right off the bat it'll ship with 17 planets in the game, each the size of a handful of WoW zones, so plenty of leveling content right off the bat.

Personally I really like the Star Wars setting and am going to try this game out when it hits the shelves on December 22nd. If the game is up your alley, pre-orders are already available, those that pre-order will gain early access to the game: http://www.swtor.com/preorder

I've started a small guild for SW:TOR as part of their guild program, it'll initially be a get-together for people while leveling up and possible grow into an 8-man raiding guild: http://www.swtor.com/guilds/6378/ministry-silly-walks (anyone interested in joining, just apply on the sw:tor site)

So, is there any one else interested in other MMORPGs or is everyone still loyal to WoW? Sick of MMORPGs altogether? Looking for a new MMORPG but want something completely different (e.g. more action packed such as TERA)?

I'd like to hear some opinions! :D

Now the only question is... sw:tor or prostitute myself until I've made enough money to buy a new computer and Skyrim?

I think the only solution is sw:tor AND prostitution for skyrim and a computer.

You also need dark souls, and the new lord of the rings game.

Guess I only can say "Prepare your anus" :/
